From our Community Convener
I’ve never quite "fit-in" in most Christian circles. My questions have always been too big, my tolerance for mystery too deep, and my passion for diversity too expansive. I’ve been searching for a long time, living in the hope of finding (or creating!) an expression of Christianity that can hold my dreams and my fears within the loving embrace of a relational, justice-driven, transformation-seeking community. If you’re yearning to be part of such a community of radical love, too, please come and contribute your voice as we create a new way of doing and being church here in Long Beach, California. We’re claiming the power of the Spirit to be the change we’ve been waiting for, moving from isolation into God’s dream of a reunited human family.
With the peace that passes all understanding...
—The Rev. Sean Lanigan

Discover Our Campus Ministry
We extend a very special welcome to students at California State University, Long Beach. In addition to our downtown-based young adult ministry, we're also building an on-campus community. Our community convener, Sean Lanigan, serves as a campus minister at Cal State through the University Interfaith Center, and he is available for conversation throughout the week by appointment. If you're interested in learning more about Beach Progressives or just want to talk, please do get in touch. We also host a variety of interfaith events on campus through our work with the University Interfaith Center...please see our events page to learn more!
"making church together, one relationship at a time"
We're building a poly-vocal, multi-valent community of young adults (ages 18-40ish) that needs a diversity of voices and perspectives to become most fully itself. We want to be a place that's comfortable (and challenging) for people from a range of religious backgrounds: evangelicals, mainline protestants, catholics, atheists, agnostics, and spiritual-but-not-religious folks alike. We also want to be a community that's at once deeply emotional, unapologetically intellectual, and unabashedly affirming of humanity's amazing God-given diversity (including and especially LGBTQ people). We'll never meet on Sunday mornings, so you can be part of another faith community and still find a nurturing peer community among us. We'll also be rich and deep enough to be your primary spiritual community, if you're looking for that kind of thing. Get in touch and come hang out with us. We've saved you a seat!
